Izabela Byzmek is the children's book illustrator for Gumboot Book's newest title.
Faeries Are Real is the newest release from Gumboot Books. This children’s literature book is filled with gorgeous illustrations by Izabela Byzmek and features lovely poetry by Crystal Stranaghan. Faeries Are RealWho doesn’t love the wonderful world of fairies? In this new children’s book, be delighted by the wacky creatures who inhabit the world we live in. Perhaps Stinger will fool readers with her pretty face or Rosie will be found swimming with the fish. Either way, fairies can be found anywhere, as is shown in the book Faeries Are Real. The Children’s Book IllustratorIzabela Byzmek has been creating her fairies for over 7 years. Preferring the old way of spelling “faery,” she has wanted to see her world come to life in book. When Gumboot Book’s publisher, Crystal Stranaghan, saw her work, she knew that a children’s fairy book would be a hit. What was once a hobby is turning Izabela’s free time into producing enough products to meet demand. She sells original artwork, t-shirts, greeting cards, wooden faeries, posters and faery-catchers, all related to the book. Since its November 2007 publication, customers have already been dying to own more of her work and to get their hands on the book. Originally from Poland, Izabela has called many cities home and is currently residing in Vancouver, BC. By day she works as a 3D animator and by night is continuing her illustration work. A natural talent, her work will no doubt be widely recognized for its ingenuity and uniqueness. Meet a few of the faeries: Esmeralda is the evil witch of the west and is known for putting “the stinky stuff between your toes, and the green things in your nose.” Merlyne is the cheeky gal who flies around stirring up the wind. Oliver and Gouche BEBES are the charming kids who look so very different from each other. Gumboot BooksFounded by Publisher and Author Crystal Stranaghan, Gumboot Books is quickly making a name for itself in the children’s literature world. With five titles already under their belt and many more in the pipelines, watch out for this ambitious company as it expands from its Vancouver, BC headquarters. As well as publish books, Gumboot’s also helps organizations fundraise for projects and does school presentations. You can catch them at reading events all over the Lower Mainland supporting literacy for kids. Along with Faeries Are Real, they have also published concurrently The 13th Floor: Primed for Adventure.
