A Picture Book by Lauren Thompson

A charming book about a little mouse's first spring.

Now that both of my children are in their tweens, I rarely get to sit and read picture books to them. However, when I told my daughter to select a handful of picture books for me to review, Mouse’s First Spring was the first book she picked.

In Mouse’s First Spring by Lauren Thompson (Simon and Schuster Books for Young Readers), a little mouse gets to explore a beautiful spring day with momma mouse. First, the little mouse sees a butterfly. The wind blows, taking away the butterfly, and the little mouse runs off to make another discovery: a snail.

After the little mouse finds a bird, a frog, a worm, and a flower, the momma mouse surprises the little mouse with a warm hug.

Mouse’s First Spring is a charming and comforting book of discovery that small children are sure to love.
